In Van Helsing 2, the legendary monster hunter, Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman), is brought out of retirement when an ancient evil stirs in the shadows. The movie opens with a cryptic warning that an ancient vampire lord, once thought vanquished, is on the verge of returning to power. Van Helsing is now older and battle-worn, having lived in seclusion after the events of the first film. In the final act, it’s revealed that Dracula’s resurrection is part of a larger plan to create a new age of darkness.
